Born and raised right here in Surrey, BC, Karim graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Science (Kinesiology) with distinction in 2016. He then continued on with his journey to Halifax, Nova Scotia where he completed his Masters of Physical Therapy at Dalhousie University in 2018. His desire to help the ever-growing community that he has called home for much of his life has brought him back to Surrey to be a member of the Trifecta team.
Karim believes in an interactive and educational approach to work together with his patients to empower them to reach their rehabilitation and injury prevention goals. His personal experience playing a variety of sports and the injuries associated with them allows him to better understand the holistic and collaborative approach needed for a full recovery. Prabjot graduated from SFU with a degree in Behavioural Neuroscience in 2018, where his interest in anatomy and human movement was sparked by kinesiology courses, leading him towards a potential career as a physiotherapist. He then pursued a postgraduate program in Sydney, Australia, completing it in 2022. During his studies, Prabjot gained experience in various clinical placements including private MSK clinics, sports rehab, neuro rehab, orthopedics, acute ICU, and acute stroke.
Upon returning to Vancouver, Canada, Prabjot worked as a rehabilitation assistant while preparing for his licensing exams. During this period, he gained valuable experience in long-term care and the outpatient rehab department at Surrey Memorial Hospital. In outpatient rehab, Prabjot worked under different physiotherapists, providing care to diverse patient populations such as stroke survivors, joint replacement patients, individuals recovering from fractures, breast cancer patients, and those with lymphedema.
Having grown up playing sports like basketball, hockey, and soccer, and later transitioning into weightlifting, Prabjot has personally experienced injuries and setbacks. These experiences fueled his curiosity about helping the human body and mind recover from injury to achieve optimal function. Prabh completed the massage therapy program at Vancouver Career College in Burnaby and is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia. He chose massage therapy as a career as there are many problems that can be solved and prevented through this treatment method.
Prabh believes in working closely with his patients in order to provide the best care as he understands the stress of not being functional. He actively listens to his client’s complaints and issues, working with them to develop a complete and individualized treatment plan. Prabh makes sure to provide education to his clients to ensure they understand how their problem will be treated, resolved and managed. He uses a variety of techniques such as Traditional Swedish, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Therapy, Joint Mobilization, and Passive Stretching techniques. However, a devastating injury in the gym redirected his focus on healing and therapy rather than strength and muscle gain. Seeking therapy allowed him to understand what was going on with his body, which was empowering as it allowed him to be proactive in his recovery. After graduating with a Bachelors of Human Kinetics, Michael continued on to complete his Masters of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia. He has had previous training in a variety of settings, including hospital and private practice. Although Michael treats many different musculoskeletal injuries from motor vehicle accidents and work place injuries, he enjoys working with athletes of all nature and has volunteered with the Richmond Road Runners Lacrosse team as well as the BC Summer Games. He has completed further education in Soft Tissue Release Therapy and Mobilization with Movement certifications and in Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) Dry Needling
Michael’s personal experience in a variety of sports as well as martial arts allows him to better understand the stresses and injuries participants are exposed to.
